My name is Gulsum Baktiyarova and I would describe myself as a responsible, creative and hard-working person. I value honesty and integrity in people and always try to follow the right path. My dream is to make the world a better place to live. I believe every input matters. In May 2017 I will graduate from KIMEP University with a major in Corporate Finance. I believe that my core strength is an academic excellence that I demonstrate from school time and continue at university having GPA equal to 4.12 (out of 4.33). For now I have an experience working in the sphere of Tax & Legal Consulting only. However, as a next step in my career I would like to challenge myself in the area of Finance. Risk management and treasury department interest me the most. One of my professional dreams is to obtain PRM (Professional Risk Manager) designation. I believe that my knowledge in the sphere of Investments, Financial Derivatives and Financial Institutions Management would help me to start my career in this direction. Besides attending the classes I live an active student life which can be presented by membership in KIMEP Art and Dance Association (KADA) as a singer. As a member of KADA I had a chance to organize and perform on annual concerts with 300-500 people as an audience. Also, I was a member of Budget Committee which is a part of KIMEP Student Government. In this committee I was responsible for the optimal budget planning of the events held by student organizations. I had a chance to work at KIMEP University’s Learning Support Center. For a year I worked as a tutor consulting students with low academic performance and helping them to improve their performance by providing additional classes. This experience enhanced my time management skills by making me combine tight class schedule with tutor duties. I like doing sport and reading in my spare time. Currently I am interested in jiu-jitsu, while before I used to swim and play tennis. I enjoy reading books on economy and politics. Sometimes I do coding and I plan to pass through courses on coding/data analytics due to the growing importance of IT in Finance. I know some Korean which I practiced during my exchange semester in Seoul, South Korea. I like learning new languages and cultures. My goal is to perfect languages I know for now and add a new one soon.
