Value and Risk Management Expert
Main tasks and related context: Coordination of Portfolio Risk Management activities for Eni Group Development Projects Unit.
- The focus is to select, evaluate and analyze Development Portfolio projects potential high risks and opportunities, which could have an impact on Company Strategic and Business objectives.
- Analyze and focus on main potential risks and opportunities future potential impacts on projects submitted for Final Investment Date (FID), Start Up date and Full Life Projects Capex Increase, enabling the Project Management Team to make informed decisions.
The main area of responsibilities:
• Responsible to improve Management Decision Making Process by carrying out qualitative and quantitative risk analysis at portfolio level and developing management reports.
• Responsible for selection of relevant Projects (Strategic & Significant projects) from the Eni Portfolio of projects for the analysis, based on selection criteria.
• Responsible to facilitate and coordinate the support to Eni group DPM’s (Development Project Managers) at various GU (Geographic Units) and at the Head Quarter, in top risks identification, assessment and development risk control/mitigation strategies definition.
• Coordinate the validation process for the Portfolio risk registers, obtained from different geographic unit Senior Leadership Team (Projects MD’s and GU Top Management).
• Coordinate the support to Development Projects Monitoring Team functions to integrate high risks information and mitigation plan statuses into monitoring functions activities; facilitated monitoring functions support to DPM’s to identify high level risks and preparation of mitigation actions and progress follow-ups.
• Coordinate the timely interface with the Project Services Managers to communicate required risk management process implementation.
• Coordinate the Portfolio Risk Management process analysis results integration into Company level (Eni group level risk team) risk assessment activities.
• Coordination the development and implementation of Professional Operating Instructions, Best Practices providing standardized approach to perform Portfolio Risk Analysis, managing the development of specific workflow diagrams, methods, templates, etc..
• Coordinate Portfolio Risk Management Team, provide guidance and where required, transfer knowledge/mentoring to portfolio risk team.

Main tasks performed and related context: Managed Company Risk Management Process as Process Owner. Was responsible for the definition and implementation of the Risk Management Strategy, Process and Tools across the:
- all corporate areas: (Stakeholder Relations, Finance, Tax & Control, Contracts & Procurement, Legal, HSE and SD (Health Safety Environment & Sustainable Development), Human Resource & Organization, and Internal Assurance Directorates);
- Development project division (Construction of Offshore and Onshore processing facilities; interfiled and export pipelines)
- Operations division (Startup) and training & developing of Risk Management staff.
The role included:
• Managing the Company Risk Register and manage the provision of presentations and summary report on key risk issues & evaluation of company exposure at a regular & scheduled time for the Managing Director and the Management Team according to the Risk Management Framework;
• Development of Risk Management Plans, manage the Risk Escalation Process to Managing Director and to Partners (Co-Ventures): accuracy, timely updating, completeness and quality;
• Sponsor Risk and Opportunity identification Workshops throughout the Company and manage the deliverables;
• Monitoring the corrective/improvement actions that are related to management of Company level risks;
• Manage the provision of policy advice on Risk Management and assuring that risk information is utilized in decision-making;
• Coordinate applying, and appraising the Risk Management Framework's effectiveness, and updating the Framework as required; work and update AKCO Risk management procedure;
• Deployment of tools (Easy Risk Manager (ERM) – web based Risk Management software developed by DNV) and techniques to support the application of the Risk Management Framework, and provide guidance, support and monitoring in the application of those by individual business units;
• Organizing and facilitating Risk Committees and coordinating the Risk Focal Points network - nominated person in each Division / Department to support Line Manager with risk related activities;
• Leading the provision of input and supporting the preparation of decision support packages - decision framing workshops, data collection, decision modeling, and documentation. This will be done on major decisions at the request of the Directors and / or Project Managers;
• Supporting and encouraging managers and units in the use of Decision Risk Analysis as a valuable means of further demonstrating decision making processes and supporting business case submissions;
• Engaging other departments/divisions in cross discipline discussion on key risk areas (risks which need multidiscipline resolution and buy-in to the decision making), and ensure information exchange;
• Participating in coordination and integration of Company & Venture wide assurance processes;
• Manage the value promotion of risk management at all levels within the organization;
• Maintaining communication with and supporting the Project Services & Governance Interface Manager and Risk Focal Points in maintaining the risk related information flow;
• Manage development of risk communication materials to NCOC Risk Network, NCOC (North Caspian Operating Company -Kashagan Project Operator) Management Team Meeting and NCSPSA (North Caspian Sea PSA - Partners); representing Agip KCO in risk management discussion with other Kashagan Field Development agencies.

A multi-billion Offshore and Onshore Construction Projects, where Offshore Project was: building of artificial Islands on a shallow water, where were drilled 40 wells, and modular facilities were installed to treat the fluids, and construction of 97 km of pipelines (2x28” for gas & oil; 1x24’’ for fuel gas); and Onshore Processing Facility with the capacity of 450 kBoepd with export pipelines. Reported to Project Services Manager, where main responsibilities were as follows:
• Driving a culture of risk management within the Offshore project management team
o Advising the project management teams in a systematic process of identifying and evaluating risks & opportunities for value improvement in Offshore & Onshore Projects;
o Building confidence within the Project Management Team in using the risk techniques as an integral part of the project management process;
o Developing risk communication materials for the senior leadership team, producing reports and recommendations to assist in corporate decision making;
• Developed and maintained the Offshore & Onshore Project Risk Registers
o Planned, developed and facilitated Risk Management Workshops throughout the project, worked with company project management teams and with contractors to identify and capture risks;
o Supported the project teams in identifying and implementing mitigation actions;
o Managed the Offshore & Onshore Project Risk Registers and communicated regularly to the Management Team, the outstanding risks and provided periodic updates;
