Projects prior to 2009 Project name: Program Complex of Petroleum Refining Reactors Designing Organization: Kazakh National University Description: The process of refining the oil is strategically important field of studies especially for countries rich for oil such as Kazakhstan. During the project a tool was developed to simulate the processes of Cracking, Refactoring, Rectification and Hydrofining. Based on the input data which includes dozens of variables, program was able to design refining reactors. In addition, program was able to illustrate the processes graphically using Adobe Flash technology. Project was presented in several conferences and was awarded by several diplomas. Contribution to personal experience: Ability to understand complicated mathematical field of study and implement GUI based on mathematical model. Work with unfamiliar languages such as Fortran and ability to translate code to the newer languages. Project name: Website development www.lenspecsmu.kz Organization: Elcom Pro LLP Description: The aim of the project was to develop a Content Management System for a real estate reselling company with dynamically updated database. Web site is able to browse and manage prices of real estate objects available at the moment, has search facilities and interactive maps for convenience. Contribution to personal experience: Ability to manage large and mostly unstructured data. Ability to work with different departments (for instance those responsible for graphical design) and to integrate their solutions with developed one. Project name: Website development www.ciscotrain.kz Organization: Telecommunication Academy KazInformTelecom Description: Internet presence is one of the vital factors which lead to success of a company. The project involved creation of a large CMS for managing news, courses, prices, documents etc. Contribution to personal experience: Ability to understand the changing environment of requirements. Ability to work with a customer, gather requirements and update the solution based on customer’s demand. Project name: A tool for training writing skills Organization: University of Glasgow Description: The project involved development of a web based tool for training and practice of writing skills based on requirements extracted from several stakeholders who were members of different linguistics departments, journalists and other non-technical people. One of the constraints of the project was to integrate the system with an existing product (Moodle). Project involved use of various CASE tools, UML diagrams and technologies and techniques such as Yahoo User Interface, PHP, MySQL, Ajax etc. The system is currently in use in University of Glasgow. Contribution to personal experience: Ability to work with several stakeholders. Work with existing documentation of existing products. Ability to specify the requirements and design diagrams. Ability to work in unfamiliar environment and “fight” for satisfaction of customer needs.
